Q:  PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder)

I'd like an explanation on the PTSD associated with a total nervous breakdown.  I had my first major manic episode 4 years ago and I'm starting to remember everything now. 4 years later!!!!! can you give me a detailed  explanation on how PTSD works after a traumatic experience. (and memories that come back)and maybe leads to articles, publications, journals , books that talk about this so that i can better understand it and so I can explain it to my family. thank you very much.
